The agreement governing your use of this site

Terms of use

Using the site means you accept these terms. Read them; they limit what the site is, and what it is liable for.

Last updated 26 May 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

These terms of use form a binding agreement between you and the operator of No Margin Left ("the site", "we", "us") and govern your access to and use of the site and all of its content. By accessing or using the site you confirm that you have read, understood, and accept these terms and the Privacy policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the site. The site is intended for adults; by using it you confirm you are at least 18 years old.

2. Information only — not professional advice

No Margin Left publishes general information, data, and commentary on aging, finances, healthcare, insurance, visas, and relocation. It is not, and must not be relied on as, professional advice of any kind — financial, investment, tax, legal, immigration, medical, or psychological. Reading the site creates no advisory, fiduciary, professional, or client relationship of any kind. Nothing here is a recommendation, solicitation, or offer to take any particular course of action. Every figure, estimate, and projection is general in nature and may not fit your circumstances; you are solely responsible for verifying any information with an appropriately qualified, licensed professional before acting on it. See Not advice.

3. No warranties

The content is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties or representations of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, to the fullest extent permitted by law. In particular, and without limiting the foregoing, the site does not warrant that the content is accurate, complete, current, reliable, or fit for any particular purpose, or that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Data and estimates are gathered from sources believed to be reliable but may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and may be revised without notice.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator shall not be liable for any loss or damage — whether direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive, and including without limitation loss of profit, savings, data, opportunity, or goodwill — arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the site or its content, or any decision taken in reliance on it, including decisions about relocation, finances, investments, insurance, taxation, health, or visas. This applies regardless of the legal basis of the claim (contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise) and even if the possibility of such loss was foreseeable or notified.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. In particular, nothing here excludes or limits the operator's liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or for any liability that may not be excluded under mandatory Belgian or EU law, including mandatory consumer-protection law. Where liability cannot be excluded but may be limited, it is limited to the minimum permitted by law. Because the site is provided free of charge, you acknowledge that this allocation of risk is reasonable.

5. Your responsibilities and acceptable use

You agree to use the site lawfully and not to:

  • use it for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose, or in breach of these terms;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to, interfere with, damage, or disrupt the site, its servers, or any connected systems;
  • introduce malware or any other harmful code;
  • systematically scrape, harvest, crawl, mirror, or use automated means to extract content beyond ordinary reading and the data expressly released under the licence in section 7, or impose an unreasonable load on the infrastructure;
  • misrepresent your identity or your affiliation with the site, or use it to harass, defame, or harm others.

You are responsible for any loss arising from your breach of these terms, and, to the extent permitted by law and save where you act as a consumer protected by mandatory law, you agree to hold the operator harmless from third-party claims arising out of your unlawful use of the site.

6. Third-party links and services

Outbound links, including any affiliate links, lead to sites and services that the operator does not own or control and is not responsible for. Their content, terms, and privacy practices are their own; their inclusion is not an endorsement. Any dealings you have with a third party are solely between you and that party.

7. Intellectual property and licensing

The original analysis, writing, methodology, bespoke tables, tools, and visual design on this site are the operator's intellectual property and are protected by copyright and other laws; all rights are reserved except as stated here. You may quote short extracts for review, comment, or research with clear attribution and a link to the source. You may not republish, redistribute, or exploit substantial portions of the content, or present it as your own, without prior written permission. The name "No Margin Left" and the site's branding may not be used in a way likely to cause confusion.

The published data is the deliberate exception. The dated series on the data page are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence: you may reuse, redistribute, and build on them, including commercially, provided you credit No Margin Left and link back to the source.

8. Feedback

If you send suggestions or feedback, you grant the operator a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use it without restriction or obligation to you. Please do not send confidential information you do not want used in this way.

9. Availability and changes to the site

The site is provided free of charge and the operator may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of it, or the whole of it, at any time and without notice or liability. The operator does not guarantee that the site will always be available or uninterrupted.

10. Privacy

Your use of the site is also governed by the Privacy policy, which explains how personal data is handled under the GDPR and Belgian law.

11. Force majeure

The operator is not liable for any failure or delay caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including outages of hosting or third-party providers, network failures, acts of authorities, or other force majeure.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

The site is operated from Belgium. These terms, and any non-contractual obligations arising from or connected with them, are governed by Belgian law. The courts of Belgium shall have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you use the site as a consumer, this choice of law and jurisdiction does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts of that country where mandatory consumer-protection law so provides.

13. Severability and waiver

If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, it shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary, or severed, and the remaining provisions shall stay in full force. A failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.

14. Entire agreement and assignment

These terms, together with the Privacy policy and the Not-advice and Disclosure notices, are the entire agreement between you and the operator regarding your use of the site. The operator may assign or transfer its rights and obligations under these terms, including in connection with a sale or transfer of the site, provided your rights are not adversely affected.

15. Changes to these terms

These terms may change; the date above marks the current version. Material changes take effect when posted, and your continued use of the site after that point means you accept the revised terms. If you do not agree, stop using the site.

16. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent via the contact page.
